The starting point is not too far from Corning, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you have the time you |
can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. A good workout and spending some quality time in
| nature have people coming from far and near. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. of the rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. For the duration of the summertime at Canisteo River highs are ordinarily in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into
the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are typically in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Canisteo River temperatures sink to the 10's.
