  The put-in is not too far from Kingston, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The wonderful Greene County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The Woodstock Dam to South Cairo stretch of Catskill Creek in New York is 5.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The
    Catskill Mountains scenery is wonderful. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York are harder than the national norm, so
you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but  
you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Briefly about the general area:
There are plenty of folks from Cairo here at Catskill Creek; nice skiing awaits you at Hunter Mountain. These mountains rock, just check out all the exciting things to do in the Catskill Mountains. Catskill Creek gets a common amount of yearly rainfall. The month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month is February. High temperatures at Catskill Creek during the summertime are in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's; overnight lows in the 0's for Catskill Creek.
