  The starting location is a short drive from Hudson, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Austin Glen stretch of Catskill Creek in Greene County is 3 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting
    here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality
time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. The scenic beauty of Greene County and the water flowing gracefully down Catskill Creek will make you feel great. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Austin Glen stretch is just one of many. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room  
before you come because it is a very popular destination.

Nearby Austin Glen is a good site to go if you're at Catskill Creek, and if you're visiting from Catskill, you won't be the only one. Lake Taghkanic State Park is a tremendous location to stop at on a wonderful day. For the period of the warmest time of the year here at Catskill Creek, high temperatures generally get into the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's while Catskill Creek overnight low temperatures all through the winter are in the 0's.
