  The starting point is not too far from Kingston, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The Haynes Hollow Creek to East Branch D section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This stretch of Dry Brook in New York is 5.5 miles long and has
    been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. There's camping available near Dry Brook. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping
in your car. The nature scenery of Ulster/ Delaware County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The beauty of the Catskill Mountains is a great plus for this river. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good  
spots. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip.

Briefly about the general area:
Really good skiing awaits you at Belleayre; you can go for a hike on the Seager West Branch Trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the Catskill Mountains. Negro Hollow is a great location to have a look at nearby, and the fine folks of Margaretville like to hang out nearby. This river has it all. Dry Brook ordinarily gets lots of precipitation. The wettest month of the year is typically May, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February.
