The beautiful scenery of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Kingston. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This section is very short so you'll have to walk back to the start |
over and over. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is the only paddling stretch along Fish Kill River. The Beacon stretch of Fish Kill River in Dutchess County is 0.25 miles long and it is classified
| as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.

take a look at on a beautiful day. There's good hiking along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and Storm King State Park is both delightful and beautiful. This river is a wonderful place to visit. You're sure to encounter
some smiling folks from Beacon here. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Fish Kill River; Stilwell Lake Trail is a great local trail. For the duration of the summertime here at Fish Kill River, high temperatures regularly
get into the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Fish Kill River.
