If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside New York you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking     or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good spots for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. The Phelps Run stretch of Flint Creek is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III+(IV) section. The Phelps Run stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Briefly   about the general area: Here at Flint Creek you'll in all probability meet some folks from Phelps, and Flint Creek is next to Seneca Lake State Park which is a lovely place. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Flint Creek. Through September this area sees the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. Summertime at Flint Creek comes with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are typically in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are mostly in the 30's with temperatures at Flint Creek dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights.
