New York whitewater, Hudson River Essex Hamilton Warren county, Riparius to Glen section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III     8 miles   This stretch of the Hudson River should be run when the guage at North Creek is at least 4' so that all sections are easily passable. Watch out for the Diagonal Rapids.  That area should be scouted from shore.  Check with local guides as to the landmarks for determining these rapids location.  There is a B & B right at the take out for this section.  The Glen Lodge / Wold Waters Outdoor Center.  You could stay there and probably work out     a shuttle with the owners to get you to the put in.  They also offer guide service and instruction. Says Brian Palmer Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The Riparius to Glen stretch of Hudson River in New York is 8 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Glens Falls, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is   an area with plenty of rivers for that. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The Riparius to Glen section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. The beauty of the Adirondack Mountains is a great plus for this river.
