The nature scenery of New York and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. This stretch of Kaaterskill Creek in Green/Ulster County is 12 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Hudson, if you're
not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have
reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. When you're paddling down a Catskill Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often tougher
than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the High Falls to Catskill Creek stretch is one of them. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
