New York whitewater, La Chute River

Essex county, Lake George to Lake Champlain section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-V+     3.5 miles
The natural beauty of New York and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. This section of La Chute River is 3.5 miles long and is a class II-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Glens Falls it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled
as well. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The wild scenery of the Adirondack
Mountains is great. The campgrounds here at La Chute River are pretty good.

Briefly about the general area:
Go for a hike on the Lost Pond Trail, and at La Chute River you always meet someone from Paradox. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff in the Adirondack Mountains. If you're here at La Chute River, do take a spree to Mossy Point, and Cold Spring is a charming site to stop by while you're at La Chute River. This river is a great place to visit. Don't leave La Chute River without first going for a hike along the Bear Pond Trail. You undeniably have to stop by Bomoseen State Park since you're here at La Chute River; D.
