New York whitewater, Mill Brook

Delaware county, Kittle Road bridge to Arena section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-IV     3.7 miles
This section of Mill Brook is 3.7 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Oneonta, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The river winds through the Catskill Mountains and you
get great scenery. The natural beauty of Delaware County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. There are
a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
