The Rio Dam to Delaware River section of Mongaup River in Orange/ Sullivan County is 2.9 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. Briefly   about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Lost Cabin Trail, and you can hit the slopes at Holiday Mountain close by. Here at Mongaup River you'll perhaps meet some people from Sparrow Bush, and Mongaup River is right by the Bald Hill Trail. This river is a wonderful place to visit. All through the summer at Mongaup River highs are commonly in the 70's. Through the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are typically in the 20's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Mongaup River temperatures sink to the 10's.
