The starting location is a short drive from Kingston, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots     for that. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Oakland Valley to US Route 209 section is just one of many. The wonderful New York scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section of Neversink River in New York is 5   miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Holiday Mountain if you're here. Here at Neversink River you'll perhaps meet some people from Cuddebackville, and perfect hiking is available along the Lost Cabin Trail. This river is so wonderful. Neversink River is a quite wet place regularly with a lot of rainfall. Most of the rain falls through May, and the driest month of the year is February. Summertime highs at Neversink River generally tend to be in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's.
