The natural beauty of Ulster County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. If you're coming from Kingston it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road     map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Minnewaska to Rondout Creek section is one of them. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the   great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Kanape Jeep Trail, and a tour here wouldn’t be complete without a journey to nearby Minnewaska State Park Preserve. Peters Kill River is right by the Comfort Trail, and people from Accord love to come here. This is such a wonderful river. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Peters Kill River while overnight lows are mostly in the 50's.
