If you're coming from Kingston it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Briefly about the general area: Everybody nearby loves skiing at Hunter Mountain; you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Willow Trail.
But wait, there's more enjoyable things to do in the Catskill Mountains. You'll meet a lot of folks from Palenville here, and a good place to pop by is Plattekill Clove. This river is so good. While you're here at Plattekill
Creek you can take a hike along the Spruceton Trail. An average amount of rain falls at Plattekill Creek. May is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
