The Penfield Pond to Factoryville section of Putnam Creek in Essex County is 5.5 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Glens Falls, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You can pitch a     tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: Go for a hike on the Lost Pond Trail, and a journey to D.A.R. State Park revitalizes the soul. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Adirondack Mountains. Good hiking is available along the Bear Pond Trail, and folks from Crown Point love to come here. This is a really good river. Through the summertime months highs here at Putnam Creek reach the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's.
