This section of Quacken Kill River in New York is 6 miles long and is a class II-III+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often more challenging than in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers     here are not very forgiving. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Pittsfield. The Grafton to Cropseyville stretch is the only paddling stretch along Quacken Kill River.
