New York whitewater, Ramapo River Orange Rockland county, Route 210 to Ramapo section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     7.5 miles   The wonderful Orange/ Rockland County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Ramapo River will make you feel great. This section of Ramapo River is 7.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Route 210 to Ramapo section is one of them. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back     for more. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The put-in is not too far from New York-Newark-Edison, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Near Ramapo River you come across Parker Cabin Hollow which is a nice place to take a look at. Gotta ski! Tuxedo Ridge is a splendid place to do   that. Don't leave Ramapo River without dropping by Sterling Forest State Park, and during your trip here you'll meet some people from Sloatsburg for sure. This river is a wonderful place to visit. If you want to hit the beach, New Sebago Beach is close by; why not take a refreshing hike along the Kakiat Trail. You must beyond doubt stop at scenic Old Sebago Beach while you're here at Ramapo River; Ramapo River is right by the Pine Meadow Trail. And that's not all you can do here at Ramapo River. A pleasant location like Harriman State Park next to Ramapo River is too delightful to leave out.
