New York whitewater, Rochester Creek Ulster county, Liebhardt to Mill Brook section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     5.5 miles   The wonderful Ulster County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're coming from Kingston it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location. This section of Rochester Creek in New York is 5.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting a good workout and spending     some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: Rochester Creek is a site with many visitors from Accord. Minnewaska State Park Preserve is a good place to stretch your   legs a bit; the Kanape Jeep Trail is a glorious hiking trail nearby. This is such a fun river. Near Rochester Creek you stumble on the Vernooy Falls Trail which is a good hiking trail. At Rochester Creek through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 70's, and the nighttime is a little cooler of course, generally in the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Rochester Creek. A lot of rain falls at Rochester Creek.
