The wonderful New York scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. If you're a camper you can camp at one     of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Rondout Creek in New York is 7.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. Briefly about the general area: Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park is a great spot; you're sure to bump into some friendly people from Bloomington here.   Everybody loves Minnewaska State Park Preserve. Rondout Creek is a quite wet place ordinarily with lots of rainfall. November is when you get the most rain here while February is frequently the driest month. Through the warm days of summer at Rondout Creek temperatures are mostly in the 70's. Through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's.
