The Starbuckville to Riverbank stretch of Schroon River is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The natural beauty of Warren County and the water flowing gracefully down Schroon River make the trip here worthwhile. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The campgrounds here at Schroon River are pretty good. The river winds through the Adirondack Mountains and you get great scenery. The Starbuckville to Riverbank stretch is one of many paddling stretches   in this river system. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: Schroon River is not far at all from Brant Lake, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Pharoah Mountain Trail. Whohoo, so much enjoyable stuff in one place! The Adirondack Mountains is great! You can never get enough of the great skiing at Hickory Ski Center, and if the weather is fine, you can go for a hike along the Spectacle Pond Trail.
