  If you're coming from Malone it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of St. Regis River - Middle Branch is 10.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III+(IV) section of whitewater. The beautiful scenery of New York and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whether you're whitewater rafting
    or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. There's camping available near St. Regis River - Middle Branch. The sections
for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up  
quick.
