Says NL If you're coming from Ogdensburg-Massena it's     not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of St. Regis River - West Branch in St. Lawrence County is 7.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-V+ section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The natural beauty of St. Lawrence County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come   because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The campgrounds here at St. Regis River - West Branch are pretty good.
