New York whitewater, Sugar Creek Livingston county, Headwaters to Canaseraga Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV-V     1.7 miles   Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The nature scenery of New York and the water flowing gracefully down Sugar Creek make the trip here worthwhile. There aren’t any hotels right nearby     but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Headwaters to Canaseraga Creek section is one of them. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Sugar Creek in New York is 1.7 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. Briefly about the general area: Stony Brook State Park   is a wonderful place to go if you're at Sugar Creek, and folks from Canaseraga love to come here. Letchworth State Park is worth going to if you're at Sugar Creek, and the slopes of Swain are so inviting noone can resist. This river has it all. The annual rain here at Sugar Creek is about average. Of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. During the summer months, highs commonly are in the 80's at Sugar Creek; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Sugar Creek.
