North Carolina whitewater, Big Creek

Haywood county, NPS Campground to Confluence with Big Pigeon section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV     2 miles

This section could be run as low as 1.5', scrapey, and a III =/-.  At 2' it is approaching class IV, on this section.  Beautiful water, beautiful run.  There is another section to Big Creek.  Go to the put in of this run, the campground, and gear up, shoulder your boat ant start hiking uphill on the trail river left.  About two miles you will cross a bridge, take a break and look upstream.  That rapid is awesome.  Two hundred yards to go.
Brutal hike, phenomenal scenery and clean water.  CAUTION: This now becomes Class IV+ through V at any level, especially above 2'.  NOT A BEGINNER RUN.    When in doubt, scout! Says Russell Tylenda
