The beautiful scenery of North Carolina and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for     that. The starting location is a short drive from Asheville, as you can see on the road map further down. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. This stretch of Big Hungry Creek in North Carolina is 1.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. This is an extremely short section so better bring some good walking shoes. The Big Hungry Road to Green section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular   destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: If you wish for a little side trip, try The Narrows, and since you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Saluda. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Big Hungry Creek is a pretty wet place ordinarily with a good deal of precipitation. The wettest month of the year is typically March, that's the one that rains the most while January is typically the driest month. During the warmest time of the year highs here at Big Hungry Creek get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's.
