When you're paddling down a Great Smoky Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in     nature are great attractions for lots of people. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the to French Broad River section is one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. The nature scenery of Madison County and the water flowing gracefully down Brush Creek make the trip here worthwhile.   Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Here at Brush Creek you'll probably meet some people from Marshall, and close by you locate the Little Paint Creek Trail which is a good hiking trail. And if that's not sufficient there's plenty more enjoyable things to do in the Great Smoky Mountains. Mulberry Gap is a splendid site to spend some time at, and going for a hike on the Pounding Mill Trail is always a splendid adventure.
