The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. The scenic beauty of Macon County and the water flowing gracefully down Cullasaja River make the trip here worthwhile. This is a bit of     a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section of Cullasaja River in Macon County is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II(III) section. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Peeks Creek Road to Peaceful Cove Road stretch is just one of many. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You might   be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: If you feel like a little side spree, try California Gap, and the snow is tremendous at Scaly Mountain. Yep, outdoors fun things truly is abundant here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Lots of folks from Highlands come to Cullasaja River It's always great to visit Cullasaja Falls. This river is always fun. Everybody loves Black Rock Mountain State Park, and you can have a delightful hiking adventure along the Three Forks Trail.
