This stretch of Dan River in North Carolina is 12.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Briefly about the general area: A trip to Hanging Rock State Park when you're here at Dan River is never a bad idea; close by you come across   the Run Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. During your visit to Dan River you'll meet some folks from Claudville for sure. Going for a hike on the Moores Knob Trail is always a great adventure. A visit to Pilot Mountain State Park when you're here at Dan River is a splendid idea. Dan River gets a typical amount of annual rainfall. May is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Dan River. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. Highs all through the wintertime are frequently in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Dan River temperatures descend to the 20's.
