North Carolina whitewater, Davidson River Transylvania county, Forest Service Road 475-A to Looking Glass Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III+(IV)     3.5 miles   I love Davidson river campground, my family and I go there every summer and stay 2 weeks at a time..... The last time we were there, we tubed down the river and it was awesome.... We tubed for 3 hours that day and the rapid were also great.... but let me tell you from experience, if you want to have a good time tubing, don't have a small child tagging along, because I had to pull a child down the river in a float and I was absolutely tired     at the end of the day. This section of Davidson River in North Carolina is 3.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III+(IV) section. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Forest Service Road 475-A to Looking Glass Creek stretch is one of them. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers   here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Transylvania County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
