North Carolina whitewater, Davidson River Transylvania county, FS Road 475 to Sycamore Flats section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     5 miles   This section of Davidson River in Transylvania County is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Brevard, as you can see on the road map further down. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. The FS Road 475 to Sycamore Flats section is one     of a few paddling sections in this river system. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There's camping available near Davidson River. The scenic beauty of Transylvania County and the water flowing gracefully down Davidson River attract people from near and far. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina are easier than the national norm, so better not forget that lots of rivers in   this state are good for beginners. Briefly about the general area: On a pleasant day at Davidson River you can take a hike along the Buck Spring Trail, and at Davidson River you always meet someone from Brevard. Man, is there lots of cool stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Caesars Head State Park is a great spot to stretch your legs a bit, and Neil Gap is a wonderful site to spend some time. This river has it all. Table Rock State Park is a gorgeous place any time of year, and if the weather is nice, you can go for a hike along the Black Mountain Trail. Looking Glass Falls is always fun to check out.
