If you're coming from Sanford it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Chatham County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: If you're popping by Deep River from Moncure, you
won't be the only one; Jordan Lake State Park is a good site to stop by. Near Deep River you stumble on the Lanier Falls Trail which is a nice hiking trail. A lot of rainfall falls at Deep River. During the month of May
you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is September. Throughout the summertime months, highs usually are in the 80's at Deep River.
