Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The river winds through the Great Smoky Mountains and you     get great scenery. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. The starting location is a short drive from Sevierville, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The natural beauty of Swain County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Bryson City section is one of them. Getting your paddling muscles   activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a great place next to Deep Creek, and going for a hike on the Tsali Horse Trail is always a wonderful adventure. So many entertaining things to do here in the Great Smoky Mountains, too wonderful to be true. You'll meet a lot of folks from Bryson City here, and there are good places to look at along the Sugarland Mountain Trail. This river is so great. Deep Creek is a quite wet place frequently with a good deal of rain.
