The natural beauty of Person/Durham County and the cool fresh water beats anything. The put-in location is a short drive from Durham, as you can see on the road map further down. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. A bit of     exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Briefly about the general area: Going to Eno River State Park close to   Flat River is a pleasant thing to do, and if you're dropping by from Bahama, you won't be the only one. A trip to Falls Lake State Park when you're here at Flat River is never a bad idea. There's a forest here at Flat River called North Carolina State University Forest. Flat River is a pretty wet place regularly with a great deal of rain. For the period of July this area sees the most rain, and April is the month with the least moisture. Summertime at Flat River arrives with high temperatures in the 80's; the night is a tad colder of course, typically in the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's while Flat River nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's.
