  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. The wonderful North Carolina scenery and the water flowing gracefully down French Broad River - East Fork are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Brevard, as you can see on the road map further down.
    Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors
are great attractions for lots of people. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. This section of French Broad River - East Fork in Transylvania County is 5.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The campgrounds here at French Broad River  
- East Fork are pretty good. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.

Briefly about the general area:
Wallace Gap is near French Broad River - East Fork and is absolutely a fine spot to check out; the Art Loeb Trail is a perfect hiking trail close by. And if that's not enough there's lots more entertaining things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here at French Broad River - East Fork you'll probably meet some folks from Brevard; Caesars Head State Park is a good place to stretch your legs a bit.
