The scenic beauty of Henderson County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch of Green River is 1.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery     is wonderful. No need to look hard for hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The campgrounds here at Green River are pretty good. The starting location is a short drive from Asheville, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a very short section so no need to bring snacks. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The Summit Lake Dam to powerhouse stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Briefly about the general area: You're sure   to encounter some wonderful people from Zirconia here. Jones Gap State Park is a magnificent spot to go if you're at Green River. During the long summer days at Green River temperatures are generally in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 60's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Green River. Green River generally gets a large amount of precipitation. August is the month that gets the most rain while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
