A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater paddling   here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.
