If you're coming from Durham it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Bynum to Highway 64 section of Haw River is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: At Haw River you always meet someone from Pittsboro; a perfect place like Jordan Lake State Park is
too great to leave out. Haw River is a pretty wet place frequently with a great deal of precipitation. Of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and September is when it's the driest. High temperatures
at Haw River during the summertime months are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and nighttime lows through the wintertime for Haw River tend to be in the 20's.
