  If you're coming from Durham it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Bynum to Highway 64 section of Haw River is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections
    in this state are pretty easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The natural beauty of North Carolina and the water flowing gracefully
down Haw River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. This river system is full of  
great paddling stretches, the Bynum to Highway 64 stretch is just one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
At Haw River you always meet someone from Pittsboro; a perfect place like Jordan Lake State Park is too great to leave out. Haw River is a pretty wet place frequently with a great deal of precipitation. Of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and September is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Haw River during the summertime months are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and nighttime lows through the wintertime for Haw River tend to be in the 20's.
