With rapids like Luch Stop, Gabriel's Bend, Moose Jaw falls, Harold's Tombstone and The Maze. The best rapids are under Jordan Lake and there are few people who remember paddling these rapids. This is a very dangerous river for novices and beginners. It is suitable only for whitewater boats. If you don't know what a whitewater boat is, stay off. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.   This section of Haw River in North Carolina is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Highway 64 to Jordan Reservoir stretch is just one of many. This section is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
