North Carolina whitewater, Little River
Moore Hoke Cumberland
county,
Morrison Bridge to Ft.Bragg section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS I 8 miles

I did this run yesterday, 25 JUN 2016. A couple of things to note.
1. The main page for this route says 8 miles... I did a map reconnaissance and it was closer to 14+, so be aware.
2. The water was low, with a couple of short sections of scraping bottom and dragging. There were 4 logs across the water requiring you to pull your boat over, and one was a full portage.
3. The run was great, despite the longer than expected |
trip. I only saw a couple of folks on the shore/swimming and no other cancers/kayakers. There was some wildlife to see, including birds, butterflies and even a water snake.
Overall, a nice, serene run. Says Mike
| The nature scenery of Moore/Hoke/Cumberland County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers in this state are less demanding. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature | |

have a lot of people coming here. The Morrison Bridge to Ft.Bragg section of Little River is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I section of whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking
or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance
you're all set. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The put-in location is a short drive from Fayetteville, as you can see on the road map further down.
