CLASS II(III)     4 miles
  This section of Nantahala River in North Carolina is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class II(III) section by American Whitewater. The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. The beautiful scenery of North Carolina and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and
    paddle. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around
here. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. The Kimsey Creek to US 64 stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Cornelia, as you can see on the road map further down. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise  
and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.

Briefly about the general area:
The Rufus Morgan Trail is a good hiking trail close to Nantahala River, and a visit to Nantahala National Forest is a splendid idea. This place, the Blue Ridge Mountains, has so much outdoors amusing stuff. There is a wonderful hiking trail near Nantahala River called the Hurricane Creek Trail; great skiing awaits you at Sky Valley. This river has it all. Sugar Cove is in close proximity to Nantahala River and is undeniably a good spot to stop at.
