If you're coming from Sevierville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in
| your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This section is very short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great experience. Briefly about the general area:
A visit to Nantahala National Forest when you're here at Nantahala River is never a bad idea, and going for a hike on the CHoga Trail is always a great adventure. So much fun stuff to do in the Great Smoky Mountains, not
enough time. Here at Nantahala River you'll probably meet some folks from Topton, and nearby you hit upon the Wesser Creek Trail which is a delightful hiking trail.
