The nature scenery of North Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves     down the stream beats anything. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This section of Nantahala River is 3.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. When you're paddling down a Great Smoky Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is a somewhat short section so better bring some good walking shoes. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better   reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Briefly about the general area: Nantahala River is in close proximity to Turkey Pen Cove which is certainly worth taking a look at. Interesting geology is available here; Winding Stairs is close to Nantahala River, and you can go for a hike on the Wesser Creek Trail. Lots of fun awaits you along this river. Queens Falls is a great local attraction; there are perfect locations to explore along the CHoga Trail.
