general area: The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Sugar Mountain. Hiking is a popular thing to do around North Harper Creek; Daniel Boone Scout Trail is a splendid local trail. At North Harper
Creek you always meet someone from Pineola; there's perfect hiking along the Yancey Ridge Trail. Coming to this river is always a good idea. North Harper Creek is a wet location that gets a great deal of rainfall.
