This stretch of Reddies River in North Carolina is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections
    in this state are safe for beginners. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either
way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The put-in location is a short drive from North Wilkesboro, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There's camping available near Reddies  
River. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. The wonderful Wilkes County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.

Briefly about the general area:
The nice folks of Wilkesboro like to hang out nearby. Reddies River is a pretty wet place ordinarily with a large amount of rain. May is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is December. Throughout the warm days of summer at Reddies River highs are generally in the 70's.
