There are some good hotels near     the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The nature scenery of Northampton County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Roanoke River dip into the 20's. Roanoke River is a wet place that gets a good deal of rain. August is the month that gets the most rain while April is regularly the driest month.
