If you're coming from Sanford it's not a long drive at all to the put-in     location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside North Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so better not forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. The wonderful North Carolina scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Rocky River will make you feel great. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Route 2170 to North Carolina Route 902 section is one of them. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and spending some   quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Rocky River is not far at all from Siler City. For the duration of the days of summer highs here at Rocky River get into the 80's, and the night is quite cooler of course, usually in the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and night lows in the 20's for Rocky River.
