Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Big Fat Gap to Lake Cheoh stretch is one of them. This stretch of Slickrock Creek in North Carolina is 6.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Great Smoky Mountains scenery is wonderful. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both,   doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Briefly about the general area: There is a tremendous hiking trail near Slickrock Creek called the Stiffknee Trail, and Lower Falls is always fun to check out. If you adore the outdoors you'll adore it here in the Great Smoky Mountains. On a good day at Slickrock Creek you can take a hike along the Big Stack Gap Branch Trail, and there are plenty of people from Tallassee here. This river has so much to offer. A short trip to Lower Falls is always worthwhile; you could always discover Big Fat Gap.
