  This section of South Yadkin River in North Carolina is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The natural beauty of Alexander County and the water flowing gracefully down South Yadkin River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit
    easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. South Yadkin River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Route 1461 to Route
1456 section is the only one. The campgrounds here at South Yadkin River are pretty good. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near.
