This stretch of Toxaway River in North Carolina is 3.69 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater     as a class V+ section. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Highway 64 to Lake Jocassee stretch is just one of many. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in North Carolina are often   more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Keowee-Toxaway State Park is a splendid place to take a look at on a gorgeous day, and the Art Loeb Trail offers hiking at its best. So many cool things to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, too great to be true. A tour to Francis Marion-Sumter National Forests when you're here at Toxaway River is never a bad idea; why not take a refreshing hike along the Foothills Trail.
