The Cedar Cliff Reservior to Cullowhee section of Tuckasegee River in Jackson County is 9.4 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II(III) section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all     set. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Brevard, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The campgrounds here at Tuckasegee River are pretty good. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that   lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. Briefly about the general area: While you're here at Tuckasegee River you can take a hike along the Whiteside Mountain National Recreation Trail, and this is a popular site for folks from Cullowhee.
